Morning Prayers

O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth shall declare your praise.

Psalm 63

O God, you are my God, I seek you,
I thirst for you;
My flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where no water is.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
Because your steadfast love is better than life;
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands and call on your name.
My soul is feasted as with marrow and fat,
and my mouth praises you with joyful lips,
when I think of you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.

But those who seek to destry life
shall do down into the depths of the earth;
They shall be given over to the power of the sword,
they shall be prey for the jackals.
But the monarch shall rejoice in God;
all who swear in God's name shall glory;
but the mouths of liars will be stopped.

Glory To God

Glory to God in the highest
and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly king,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you,
we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world:
have mercy on us!
You are seated at the right hand of the Father:
receive our prayer!
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit
in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.

The Song Of Zachariah

Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of Israel!
You have come to your people
and set them free.
You have raised up for us a horn
of deliverance
in the house of your servant David.
Through the mouth of
your holy prophets of old
you promised liberation from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
You promised to show mercy to our forebears
and to remember your holy covenant.
That wsas the oath you swore
to our father Abraham:
that, rescued from the hands of our enemies,
we are free to worship you without fear,
holy and rightoues in your sight
all of the days of our life.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet
of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord
to prepare the way,
to give God's people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.
in the tender compassion of our God
the morning sun will break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness
and the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet in the way of peace.

The Doxology

Glory to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and will be forever.
Amen.
